New House

We are finally moved into our new house and out of the rental. And now that I have my computer set up and internet access again I am finally able to catch up on the blog. Sorry it took so long.

Santa

The kids got to see Santa at our ward Christmas Party. Nathan asked him for a Wall-E video, which he brought him, but David and Alyssa were too scared to say anything.

Parade of Lights

After we had Alyssa and David's party we went to the parade of lights that night. It was cold but not as cold as last year. Last year right as the parade started, the wind came in really strong and it started raining. The kids had fun watching all of the floats go by and getting lots of candy.

These were the two best floats.

Happy Birthday!

Alyssa and David had a combined Dora and Diego birthday party. They had lots of friends come and had lots of fun. Here are some pictures.

And this is what happens to you if you stand by mom while she is cooking.

I was making the frosting for David and Alyssa's cakes and I put the powdered sugar in the mixer, then I turned it on and half of it went flying out of the bowl and landed on Emma, she didn't seem to mind.

November Grandparent Pages

November 2008

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
On the 4th of November, I went to a hangar in the Grand Junction airport to the John McCain “Road-to-Victory” rally with my Mom, Nathan, David, and Alyssa. Dad came to the rally later. I had fun playing with and trying to eat the red pom poms they gave us to shake.
My mom was doing the laundry one day and while I was helping her. I thought it would be fun to climb into the laundry basket. Luckily it had some clothes in it so I had a soft landing when I fell in.
Whenever my mom turns on music, I like to dance by bouncing up and down. I also try to dance when I am on Mom’s lap in Primary with, and the other kids sing songs.
On the 6th of this month, I took one step without holding on to anything. Then on the 10th, I took three steps. On the 13th, I walked across the floor. By the end of the month, I was walking all over the place. I also learned to wave and now I wave hello and goodbye to everybody. My 3rd tooth came in at the end of this month.
I met some of my Mom’s cousins this month when I went to their house in Fruita for an early Thanksgiving dinner. I also got to see my Uncle Jim and Aunt Lanean and Great Grandma and Grandpa Luke. I was excited to see them.
For Thanksgiving, I went to La Jara to Grandma Kaye and Grandpa Dwight’s house. While I was there, I got to visit my Great Grandma Martin, my Great Grandma Bessie and Great Grandpa Dave. At Grandma Kaye’s house, I helped Grandma decorate her Christmas tree and undecorated it.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
At the first of this month, I dislocated my elbow and Daddy took me to the emergency room where they popped it back in.

At the rally, organizers gave me a McCain/Palin sign that I held up and some red pom poms to shake. It was neat when McCain’s airplane came right next to the hangar and he came out and talked to us. I had fun at the rally.

I got sick one night this month with Nathan. We were up all night throwing up and Dad stayed up with us and let us watch TV all night long.
My preschool had a celebrating preschool night party. At the party, I got to do 4 different activities and got a surprise after I completed each activity.
I went to my friend Alex’s birthday party at rocket Park. While I was at his party, a firetruck and policeman came because somebody had lit some trash cans on fire and there was a guy that was passed out on the grass. When the firefighters were done putting the trash cans out they came over and gave us all stickers.

October Grandparent Pages

October 2008
Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
At the first of this month I started to take steps while holding Mom’s hands. On the 19th of this month, my first tooth came through and on the 24th my second tooth came up next to it. I tried bananas and pears this month. I liked the bananas the best. My mom also cut me up some spaghetti noodles to try and I love them. I also like to talk to my family, sometimes it sounds like I say what my mom or dad just said. I like to play hide and seek where I will pull the blanket over my face and then show my face. I also like to play “where’s Emma?” I will look up at the ceiling or to the side and my Mom will say where’s Emma until I look at her and then I will laugh when my Mom acts surprised to see me.
One day this month I got to walk with David’s preschool class to the pumpkin patch. I liked playing on the pumpkins.
The Saturday before Halloween I got to go downtown with my family and go trick-or-treating at the shops there.
A few days before Halloween, I got to go trunk-or-treating at the church’s Halloween party. Then on Halloween, my Mom took me and my brothers and sister to the mall and we walked around to all of the shops and got lots of candy. Even though I was asleep through most of it, people still dropped candy in my bucket. Then we went to a neighborhood where my Dad’s boss lives and went trick-or-treating to a lot of houses. For Halloween, I was dressed as a pumpkin. Love Emma

October 2008
Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
One day this month I got to walk with David’s preschool class to the pumpkin patch and my Mom let me pick out a little pumpkin.
I was wearing a shirt that said, “Always Sweet” one day so my Mom asked me if I was always sweet and I told her no.
My new favorite thing to do is color. I still sometimes color on the walls and other things I’m not supposed to color on but mostly I like to color in my coloring books. I also really love to dance and wear pretty dresses. When I was dressed as Cinderella for Halloween I liked to twirl around in my dress.
The Saturday before Halloween I got to go downtown with my family and go trick-or-treating at the shops there, I also got to decorate a small pumpkin and a cookie.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
On the 6th of this month, I was riding my bike up a hill at the Sherwood Park behind my mom while she was pushing the stroller. All of the sudden, I lost control and the bike rolled backward and I crashed. My mom turned around to see me sprawled out on the sidewalk with the bike on top of me. I looked up at her from the ground and said, “good thing I was wearing a helmet.” After my mom had me back on my bike, I told her, “Whew, I haven’t crashed like that in years.” The crash left me with a little bump on my head.
I got to do lots of fun things in preschool this month. The firemen came and visited my school twice and showed us there uniforms and equipment. Now I know all about stopping, dropping, and rolling. On another day, I got to walk to the pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin.
I went with Dad and Nathan to Joes Valley to winterize the cabins. While I was there I got to play with Hunter, Joseph and Parker. I had fun playing with all of them until I fell onto a cactus. I tried to be tough while I got all of the stickers pulled out of my hand and knee.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
I discovered Pokemon cards at school and my friends have even given me a few. I told my Mom that I wanted some, but she told me that was one thing she wouldn’t buy me because she didn’t like them. I told her that I would just ask Santa for them.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
I went to Green River to Grandma Luke’s house. At Grandma’s house, I sat on the blanket by the garden and played while my Mom, Dad, David and Nathan cut down the weeds. While we were at Grandma’s house, I went to Melon Days with my family. I sat in the back of the van and watched the parade go by with Dad. At the park, I enjoyed riding around in the stroller and watching everything. I also tried a little bit of watermelon but I didn’t really like it.
At my 6 month checkup I weighed 15 lbs 4 oz and I was 26 ¼ in long.
About halfway through the month, I said Mama. On the 27th, I woke up in the middle of the night and decided I wanted to play. While I was playing, I said Dada, and Daddy rolled over and asked Mommy did she just say Dad?
On the 20th of this month, I let go of my Mom while I was standing and stood for a few seconds. By the end of this month, I could stand for longer by myself. Also by the end of the month, I was able to go from sitting to standing all by myself without holding onto anything. Also this month, I started cruising around the furniture.
I got to go to the Grand Junction is Broncos country celebration at the Stocker Stadium.
At the end of this month, the Blue Angels came and did an air show in Grand Junction. They practiced for their air show a few days before the show and I sat outside with Mom, David and Alyssa and watched them fly right over the house. The day of the air show we got to go and sit close to the airport and watch them fly over. They flew over the building we were sitting by and they were so close and really loud. Love Emma

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
I got to go to Green River to Grandma Luke’s house. While we were at Grandma’s house I helped my Mom, Dad, David and Nathan with the weeds. I would tell my Mom good job every time she cut down a weed. Also at Grandma’s house, I got to go to Melon Days. At Melon Days, I watched a parade and collected a lot of candy. I got to go to the park and play in all of the bump-n-jumps. It was tons of fun. I also got to eat lots of yummy watermelon.
One day my Mom wanted to comb my hair out with her brush. She always tells me she is going to make me pretty, but I don’t like it when she uses the hair brush. So, I told her I don’t want to be pretty, just beautiful.
One day Mommy had just got done cleaning off the table and Daddy came home and put his lunch bag on the table and Mommy said, uh oh Daddy made the table dirty again so I yelled at Dad, “DADDY HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU NOT TO PUT THAT ON THE TABLE!” My Mom calls me a little Mommy.
I got to go to the Grand Junction is Broncos Country celebration at the Stocker Stadium. They gave us cookies decorated for the Broncos, then they shot toy footballs out of a cannon and I managed to get one. I also got a Broncos bumper sticker and I got a picture with the mascot Miles.
At the end of this month the U.S. Navy Blue Angels came and did an air show in Grand Junction. They practiced for their air show a few days before the show and I sat outside with Mom, David, and Emma and watched them fly right over the house. I got very excited when ever I saw the airplanes fly by. One time when it was just me and my Mom out there my Mom thought she saw the airplanes but it turned out just to be birds so I laughed at her and said, “ha-ha Mommy, you thought those birds were airplanes, ha-ha Mommy thought the birds were airplanes.” My Mommy told me it wasn’t nice to make fun of her. The day of the air show we got to go and sit close to the airport and watch them fly. They flew over the building we were sitting by and they were so close and really loud. I got very excited again when I saw them fly over and now whenever I see an airplane fly over I yell MOMMY, MOMMY AIRPLANE, AIRPLANE, MOMMY MOMMY AIRPLANE!

September 2008
Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
I get to play soccer again this year, except now I get to play outside instead of inside. Dad is my soccer coach and during my game on September 27th, I kicked a goal.
I went to Green River with my family to Grandma Luke’s house; while we were at Grandma’s house, I helped my Mom, Dad and Nathan knock down the giant weeds in Grandma’s garden. The weeds were almost as big as trees. I helped my Mom and Dad by dragging the weeds they cut down to the trailer. Also at Grandma’s house, I got to go to Melon Days. At Melon Days, they had a parade and I collected a lot of candy, but my bag had a hole in it. My Mom finally figured out why there was candy every where I was walking and helped me pick it up and put it in a new bag. I got to go to the park and play in all of the bump-n-jumps. It was tons of fun.
One day after my mom had given Alyssa a bath, I noticed that she had been in there for a long time playing. I told my mom, “Alyssa is still in the bathtub, she is going to get wrinkled toenails.”
I got to go to the Grand Junction is Broncos Country Day Celebration at the stocker stadium. They gave us cookies decorated for the Broncos. They shot footballs out of a cannon and I managed to get one. I also got a Broncos bumper sticker and picture with the mascot Miles and had him autograph my bumper sticker.
At the end of this month the Blue Angels came and performed in Grand Junction. They practiced for the air show a few days before the show and I sat outside with mom, Alyssa and Emma and watched them fly right over the house. The day of the air show we sat close to the airport and watched them fly over. When they flew over they were so close and really loud. It was awesome. Love David

September 2008
Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
I turned 7 this month. I got two parties for my birthday. The first one was in Joe’s Valley on my birthday. All of my cousins on the Luke side were there. I had a Wall-E cake and a Wall-E treasure hunt. I got a train Lego, Star Wars Lego, car Lego, a book, and lots of money. In Joe’s Valley I had lots of fun playing with my cousins, I especially liked to make Parker and Emma laugh.
My second party was a few days after my birthday. My friends, Mathew, Parker, Jacob, and Randy came. I got another Star Wars Lego, a Star Wars R2D2 figure, some cars, a play 4 wheeler and a robot. My Mom made a Wall-E cake and we played a Lego treasure hunt game and our treasure was a Wall-E Lego that I designed.
I started playing soccer again this year. We now have a goalie so it is harder to get goals but I have got a few.
In the middle of this month, my tooth fell out while I was at school. So I got a pass and went to the office and they gave me a little tooth container to keep my tooth in (they call it a toothcase). That night I was at Grandma Luke’s house and I took the tooth out of the container and set it next to the container. The next morning the tooth and the container were both gone, I woke my parents up because I was upset that the tooth fairy took the tooth container along with the tooth. But my Mom helped me look and we found the tooth container under the bed. The tooth fairy just accidentally knocked it off. After we found the container, I was excited about the 4 quarters the tooth fairy left me.
While we were at Grandma’s house I helped my Mom, Dad and David knock down the giant weeds in Grandma’s garden. The weeds were almost as big as trees. I called it a weed forest and sometimes when my Mom cut them down she would yell timber. Sometimes the weeds would still land on me, and then I would drag them to the trailer to take to the dump. Also, while visiting Grandma’s house, I got to go to Melon Days. At Melon Days they had a parade and I collected a lot of candy. I got to go to the park and play in all of the bump-n-jumps. It was tons of fun.
I got to go to the Grand Junction is Broncos country day at the Stocker Stadium. They gave us cookies decorated for the Broncos, then they were shooting footballs out of a cannon so I ran up to catch one. I got one and I tried to catch a shirt but I didn’t get one of those. I did get a Broncos bumper sticker and I got a picture with the mascot Miles and I had him autograph my bumper sticker. At the celebration, I told my Mom that I wanted to decorate my room the same colors as the Broncos.
At the end of this month the Blue Angels came and did an air show in Grand Junction. They practiced for their air show a few days before the show and while I was at recess I saw them fly over. In school, I made a Blue Angels paper airplane. The day of the air show we got to go and sit close to the airport and watch them fly over. They flew over the building we were sitting by and they were so close and really loud. It was awesome.
One night this month, I fell out of my bed so I went into my Mom and Dad’s room and I asked them if they knew what the big thud was and then I told them it was me falling out of bed.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
On the 4th of this month, I started scooting forward. So now I crawl but it is an army crawl. But by the end of them month I was able to crawl on my hands and knees.
On the 6th of this month my Mom fed me rice cereal and carrots, I kind of liked the rice cereal but I really didn’t like the carrots. I gagged on both of them a lot so my Mom decided to wait another month to feed me them again.
On the 11th of this month, I went into a sitting position all by myself, and by the end of the month I was sitting really well all by myself.
The city had a grand opening celebration for the Riverside Parkway. I went with Mom, Alyssa, David and Nathan.
On the 20th of this month, I pulled myself into a standing position by using Mom’s leg. Now I pull myself up to stand whenever I can.
At the end of the month we got to travel to Joe’s Valley. In Joe’s Valley all of my cousins on the Luke side were there. I had fun playing with Parker, I would crawl on him and try to stand on him and we would talk to each other. Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Luke were also there and I enjoyed being held by them

August 2008
Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
Grand Junction had a grand opening celebration for the Riverside Parkway. I went with Mom, Emma, David and Nathan. We went to the road and got ice cream, cake, and a water bottle full of ice water. People gave speeches and when they were finally done talking, they started shooting toy Chick-Fil-A cows with parachutes on their backs, and Big-O Tire shirts out of a cannon. I was just minding my own business eating my ice cream when all of the sudden a Big-O Tire shirt smacked the ice cream out of my hand. The people around me let me keep the shirt; Nathan and David were also able to catch me a cow. I got to watch some antique cars be the first to drive on the parkway. After the celebration on the road was over, it continued at the botanical gardens. There, I jumped in a Disney’s Cars bump-n-jump, painted a flower pot and planted a flower in it, got a balloon animal, spun the Chick-Fil-A prize wheel and won a treat, and got cookies and lemonade. I also got to walk through the butterfly garden and children’s secret garden at the botanical gardens.
At the end of the month we got to travel to Joe’s Valley. In Joe’s Valley all of my cousins on the Luke side were there. I had fun playing with all of them. Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Luke were also there. I had fun playing with them also. While in Joe’s Valley, Daddy took us on a few walks around the lake and in the mountains.

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,
The city had a grand opening celebration for the Riverside Parkway. I went with Mom, Emma, Alyssa and Nathan. We went onto the road and got ice cream and cake and a water bottle full of ice water. Then we listened to people talk. When they were finally done talking they started shooting stuffed Chick-Fil-A cows with parachutes on their backs, and Big-O Tire shirts out of a cannon. I caught lots of cows and shirts. Then I got to watch some old cars be the first to drive on the parkway. After the celebration on the road was over, they continued it at the botanical gardens. There I jumped in a Disney’s Cars bump-n-jump, painted a flower pot and planted a flower in it, got a balloon animal, spun the Chick-Fil-A wheel and won a treat, and got cookies and lemonade. I also got to walk through the butterfly garden and children’s secret garden at the botanical gardens.
I started preschool at Kids Campus. My teachers are Harold, Elizabeth, Jo-Zan and Kathie. I told my mom that I love school and every day I ask her if it is a school day and if it is time to go to school yet.
At the end of the month, we got to travel to Joe’s Valley. In Joe’s Valley all of my cousins on the Luke side were there. Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Luke were also there and Great Grandpa Luke let me play with his matchbox cars. If you didn’t know, I love cars.

John McCain Road to Victory Rally

I took the kids to the John McCain "Road to Victory Rally" at the Grand Junction Airport this morning. Philip dropped us off at the airport and we walked over to the hanger where the rally was taking place. We had to go through metal detectors and the volunteers that were there were really nice. They let me keep the water bottles and all of the stuff I brought to keep the kids happy for 3 hours while we waited for John McCain to come. They also let me sit in the vip section which was the bleachers behind where John McCain was speaking. So we might be on the news. While we were waiting for John McCain to get there, we listened to some singers. I also noticed two snipers walking across the roof of the building across from the hanger, and when we were leaving we saw others leaving there posts on other roofs. Philip was finally able to get off work about an hour before McCain got there. When McCains' airplane arrived everybody started yelling, his plane pulled up right next to the hanger we were in. He came with his wife, his 96 year old mother who stood the whole time he was talking, and Senator Joe Lieberman. When he was done speaking, he walked around and shook hands. While he was shaking hands there were about 5 secret service agents that stood all around him. After the rally ,we watched McCain's airplane take off, Alyssa especially liked that. Ever since the airshow she gets very excited whenever she sees an airplane.
The kids were excited to go to the rally, especially Nathan. He has learned a little bit about voting in school and while we were walking to the rally he said, "I can't believe we get to see John McCain." Where we were sitting, we were also able to meet a lot of the other republican candidates that are running for offices in Colorado. Nathan even had Bob Schaffer (he is running for US Senate) sign his McCain/Palin sign.

The guy that took our picture apparantly didn't see Emma.

If you look close you can see John McCain and his wife waving from their airplane.

My picture isn't that great because of the light behind him. But here is John McCain.

Blue Angels Airshow and Birds

Today after the boys soccer games, we decided to go and watch the airplanes fly at the air show. Philip works close to the airport where the air show is so we parked close to his work. We sat on a grassy hill and watched the skydivers and airplanes. The best part of it was at the end when the Navy Blue Angels flew. The past two days the Blue Angels have been practicing and a few times they flew right over our house. Alyssa, David and I would sit outside and watch them when they practiced. One time when it was just Alyssa and I, we were looking for the airplanes in the sky and I said, "there they are, wait, those are just bird." My little two-year old Alyssa started laughing and said, "Ha ha mommy, you thought those birds were airplanes. Ha ha. Mommy thought the birds were airplanes!" I told her it wasn't nice to make fun of mommy. But in my defense they were very big birds. Well here are some pictures from the air show.
